Each group of "eaters" has their own set of morals, codes and habits that influences what defines a "healthy eater".
The categories below are narrowed down to the types of healthy eaters there are. If you believe you should be on the list but do not fit into a category it is simply because you are not actually eating well. This award ceremony is limited to eaters that only consume with detoxing initiatives and healthy lifestyle goals. The award ceremony disqualifies eaters that assume their body’s are healthy but are not consuming natural ingredients; i.e. Protein powder shake guy, The supplements stoner, The guy who eats in moderation…potato chips, Subway and icecaps, the under-eater, and that one person that only eats soy substitutes. Nominees: The Escalating Vegan The Extreme Organic The Clean Eater The Calorie Counter The Eating for Sustenance Guy Honorable Mentions: The Gluten Free The Passionate Chef Merit Categories: Most Likely to End up on a Reality TV Show Most Likely to be a Superhero Best Newcomer Biggest Drama Queen Most Likely to Win X Factor For Most Likely to End up on a Reality TV Show: “The Escalating Vegan” The eater probably had an experience that converted them to become a vegetarian. Slowly their understanding of food consumption shifted and the vegetarian cut out the “etarian” and added an “an”. These changes in letters represent the amount a vegan can eat. Kidding. I have met and cooked for very satisfied vegans. On the other hand I have met unhealthy vegans, but most vegans I know say they have more energy and they feel cleaner. They have made a commitment and you will most likely find that out about them sooner rather than later. They share traits with the “Clean Eater” and their regiment sometimes overlap with “The Extreme Organic”. One day she may go Raw. For Most Likely to be a Superhero: “The Extreme Organic” This girl always wanted a vegetable garden and sunflowers everywhere. She moved to the country to grow her own food and frequents farmers' markets every Thursday and Sunday just to see what’s good. She knows she’ll have to work for everything she consumes and feels a type of responsibility and appreciation that can only be gained one way. She feels gratitude by educating herself and her peers and by creating her own fresh lifestyle and sharing it with others. She agrees that knowledge of what you are putting in your body is the fastest way to a cleaner lifestyle. For Best Newcomer: “The Clean Eater” She makes well-balanced meals throughout the day. She usually makes them all by hand and pairs them with some form of physical activity. She generally snacks on fruit and vegetables until her next meal if she is hungry. Her favorite activities include walking to work, making smoothies and reading new recipes. She is known for being best friends with “The Extreme Organic” and the “Escalating Vegan”. For Biggest Drama Queen: “The Calorie Counter” Their code is simple; calorie in vs calorie out. They usually keep journals and have a nutritionist in their rolodex. Do people still use rolodexes? Do people still count calories? For Most Likely to Win X Factor: “The Eating for Sustenance Guy” (was also runner up for Most Likely to be on a Reality TV Show) He only consumes ingredients, not meals. He may blend them together once and a while, however it is not for creativity it is so he can chug the grossest, healthiest thing he can manage. If because he is making the effort to eat, it is only because he has to. He has been known to break code once in a while by eating large amounts of one single ingredient. He prefers peanut butter and quinoa but still, only because he is extremely hungry. This Eater is the least understood out of the groups. Slowly we are unveiling his methods. We do know: He understands why he needs to eat, he needs the energy. He understands why he needs to eat healthy, he needs to feel clean. He understands why he is responsible and prepares his meals, it’s the only way. He understands why he dedicates a lot of time to his body, it leads to a cleaner lifestyle. We don’t understand but enjoy the irony of: How he stays as diligent as he is with a strange circular rationalization that motivates him. How he justifies eating and spending time creating “meals” that he cannot stand. All of these healthy eaters have similarities. They all want to feel their best. Once educated about what is going into your body, you are more prone to pair it with a physical activity. Activates for healthy eaters are; yoga, running, more eating and personal hobbies. Each method takes time and commitment. But in every case, the eater has a positive outcome. Their outlook is all based on the ingredients consumed and the energy and nutrition they provide their bodies. We look up to these healthy eaters, being the cleanest they can be.

If say, someone had the perpetual custom of baking barefoot in the kitchen, inevitably one of those times one of those toes is going to get stubbed. Has nothing to do with skill, just common sense and the universe’s strange hunger for humor. It is what you do after you break the toe that separate’s you from the habitual addiction. Do you put on slippers, take the sock route or dare to do it all again? Life gives you situations and you make them into choices. Is your next step going to be barefoot? Be known for being bold and unique the way cultures are known for the food they share with the world. Some dishes are expectedly strange and others are more delicious than expected.
Does trying new foods mean you are going to end up with a smile in paradise? Not necessarily, but if you keep eating, you are bound to bite into something beautiful. Not too long ago in the Cayman Islands, turtle for dinner was as common as drinking coffee in Cuba and breaking Baguettes in Barcelona. While knowing some things are predictable and safe, expect the unexpected and then expect that to change. Don't stay in one place and experience one type of meal. Embrace your surroundings and taste something new. You may not enjoy every bite, but you will always be able to tell the story of the night you ate turtles in paradise. |
